"Monster Buck Makes a Local 13 Year Old a Legend"

Michael Conatser, age 13, and his Dad (Lex) were hunting in Cumberland County, Tennessee on November 22, 2003, at 6:00 AM.  His Dad carried a video camera and Michael carried a rifle.  Michael had just passed his Hunter Education Course in August 2003.  This is the first year to ever hunt, first day of gun season, first hour of day, first and only shot, first deer.  It's amazing, the 10 Point Buck deer scored on the Boone & Crockett list at 145 2/8 and weighed 170+ pounds field dressed.  The beams were 21 3/4" long, the longest tine was 10 3/4" and each base is 4 3/4".  This deer fits in the category of "Monster Buck" in Tennessee.  This may also make a special record in the books for Michael's age.  Michael has now become a local legend with his friends & family of his famous one shot monster buck.  They were unable to get the actual video of the shot, but did get the aftermath.  All his friends have told him that he needs to retire from deer hunting with his one shot, because it is very unlikely to see a deer of this magnitude again.  His Dad & Granddaddy have been hunting all their life and have never seen anything like this, except on TV or in magazines.  This is a new expression for "Beginner's Luck."
