POSSIBLE
 LINCOLN COUNTY ARCHERY RECORD

This fine 11 point was taken in the East Lincoln area October 5, 2003, at 6:45 p.m. by Nathan Martin of Brookhaven, MS.

The buck weighed 210 pounds and was taken with Nathan's reliable Hoyt bow and Thunder Head broad heads. (As you can see from his truck decal, he is a little fond of Hoyt.)  This highly potential Lincoln County record green scored 160 Pope & Young.

Who says it gets too hot to hunt?  You won't catch Nathan Martin saying that again.  He tells The Bragging Post his story below:

"I wasn't going to hunt Sunday evening since it was so warm, but decided to go anyway.  As 5:30 rolled around, I watched a doe and a baby fawn graze in my food plot. As time went on, I watched several young bucks come into play.  I found myself enjoying a good hunt with plenty of action.  Then. . . . , this mature buck stepped out to my left.  It was my dream coming true.  He stood like a statue for what seemed like 30 to 35 minutes before he moved a muscle.  Then, he slowly started making his way toward me, cautious the whole way.   He got closer and closer, and just as I had hoped, he stepped out to offer me a good shot.  As my heart pounded, I made my shot.  As soon I released my arrow, I felt I had made the perfect shot.   I hurriedly went to get my dad and friends to help me retrieve the biggest buck of my lifetime.  When my dad saw the deer, he was so excited, he lit the wrong end of his cigarette and never knew the difference.  I'll never say 'It's too hot to hunt' again!!"
