This nice eight point was killed by Herbert Harper of
Hot Coffee, MS in Hot
Coffee on December 30, 2009 at approximately 4:00.
Kevin Harper said, "The
deer ran across the field about 220 yards away from Herbert as he was just
getting in shooting house to get heater lit. He went out of the
field and in about 2 mins 12 turkey came out where the buck went in.
He quickly put his gun thinking it might have been the buck and then
realizing it was turkey got discouraged but decided to check out the
turkey with his scope. He then spotted the buck standing behind the
turkey quartering to him. He took careful and then shot. I
arrived (I am his son Kevin) shortly there after and we went straight to
the 8 point. Good thing b/c he did not bleed a drop and it was
raining on top of that. 17.5 inside spread 10 to 11 inch back tines
and plenty massive. Pop is 68 years old and has been hunting over 50
years and although he has taken many a white-tail and some nice bucks but
this is his best buck yet.
