This picture is posted, as graphic as it is, so the warning will stick in your mind due to the current popularity of crossbows.  Tell your friends & your enemies.  This man is by far not the only person injured in this way from crossbow.

Be VERY careful using a crossbow where your thumb is when shooting a crossbow.

Especially older bows that do not have a guard to prevent this from happening!!!

Definitely not a child's weapon of choice!
