The term "noodling" or "hand grabbing" is used for the way some guys (and gals) catch their fish. They wade out into the river and feel for holes in the river floor.  When they find a catfish hole, they stick their hands in and pull out some monster catfish.  Here are some pictures of what they come out with.  Think about these dudes next time you are swimming in the river.
